So far we've been able to get our hands on some "Tru Blood" to drink like our favourite characters from the HBO hit show. But what about being able to cook up some cuisine daily inspired by Louisiana favourites and with a dark twist? Well, apparently we soon will be able to with the release of an Official True Blood cook book! Ha sounds interesting to me. Let's hope more tasty ingredients and less bloody ones. ;)
"Chronicle Books and HBO are pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of The True Blood Cookbook, by series creator Alan Ball (with Karen Sommer Shallett and Marcelle Bienvenu), expected in Fall 2012. The True Blood Cookbook will be filled with photos from the show’s four seasons, side stories, and authentic southern recipes for the local fare of the insatiable world of Bon Temps. “Millions of fans agree there’s nothing more exciting on television than True Blood, and much of that fun comes from the witty and delicious symbolism food and drink brings to so many scenes,” said Christine Carswell, Chronicle Books’ Publisher. “The True Blood Cookbook will relish the flavors of the True Blood universe with plenty of authentic dish—both on the plate, and behind-the-scenes.” “This book will be substantial, with recipes that capture the unique ambience, dark humor, and complexity of characters that make up the magical and offbeat world of True Blood,” states Ball. “In other words, it will be a worthy of ‘Trubies’ everywhere.” Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humour, the True Blood takes place in Louisiana in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, and her soul mate, 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®- winning HBO series Six Feet Under®) created and executive produces the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris." SOURCE Ok, It's been swirling rumours for a little while. But I decided to wait until official news was released about show runner Alan Ball stepping down from his post on True Blood. So sad to hear and a little scary to know what new writers are going to do for the show from here on. But I have faith they'll still deliver us some juicy scenes and story lines. Thank you for the last few seasons you have given us Alan! Here is official news, statements from Entertainment weekly.
"“When we extended our multi-year overall deal with Alan Ball in July 2011, we always intended that if we proceeded to True Blood’s sixth season that Alan would take a supervisory role on the series and not be the day-to-day show runner. If we proceed to season six, the show will remain in the very capable hands of the talented team of writers and producers who have been with the show for a number of years. This is the best possible world for both HBO and Alan Ball. Alan will remain available as executive producer to consult and advise on True Blood and he will be free to develop new shows for both HBO and Cinemax. Banshee, on which Alan serves as executive producer, is the first in house series for Cinemax and is expected to begin production this spring.” Meanwhile, Ball says in statement, “True Blood has been, and will continue to be, a highlight of not only my career but my life. Because of the fantastic cast, writers, producers and crew, with whom I have been lucky enough to work these past five years, I know I could step back and the show will continue to thrive as I look forward to new and exciting ventures.” SOURCE But Season 5 of True Blood is a go! The head of programming for HBO released the following statement regard the series. "I am thrilled that True Blood continues to enjoy a phenomenal reception from both subscribers and critics. Alan Ball and his gifted team have devised the greatest thrill ride on TV." So yay! Happy to know we get to see more of Sookie's crazy life on TV every week again next Summer. Because we all know Charlaine Harris will have 13 books for the writers of the show to interpret for us. Yesssssssss. We finally have some Official promo posters released! All thanks to Seat42F.com. Personally this is my favourite because it shows all the love options Miss Sookie has these days ;) I will definitely be curious who they pair her up with mostly this season. Although, I would prefer they stick more to the books and have her hook up with Eric a bunch.
