First, we had LaFayette controlled by yet another spirit for the second time. This time being the strong and vengeful Marnie, who decided to take poor Jesus captive and steal his demon powers and take his life. I felt so sad for LaFayette to lose his lover especially by his own hands. The last two Seasons with Jesus have brought so much out of his character than just being the token gay character who was in scenes for amusing quips here and there. I'm guessing this loss will most likely make him become more defensive and non-trusting with characters in the future, especially with any love interests and the strange spiritual power he has with the dead.
We finally got an end to the bitter witch when Sookie, Tara and Holly conjured up the ghosts of the past to rip her out of LaFayette and take her to god knows where. It was nice seeing Gran again this time to kick butt and see Sookie for a small moment which was so short and yet so tender. Unfortunately this also brought back the serial killer of season 1, Rene to warn Arlene about something coming to town. Which just happened to coinside with the appearance of Scott Foley's new character, a old soldier buddy from Terry's past. Will he be up to no good or is that maybe just a red herring as a distraction to something bigger?
That something bigger might have to do with the sudden de-burial of Russell Edgington from one of Alcide's cement flooring jobs. So who would want him back in action to reek revenge on Bill and Eric? It's really peeked my interest! Maybe the almighty 'Authority' that the vampires always talk about? That which Nan Flannagan decided to quit and tried to take Bill and Eric down with her, only to get staked in the end. Which is always a gruesome and festering scene. I'm not even sure I want to know what the effects and make-up people use for those scenes. Because it sure looks nasty as hell.
One of the great moments to me was Sookie choosing herself in a way instead of the huge debate of Eric or Bill. I think the poor girl needs some time off from men to figure out her fairy powers and history beside them. I look forward to a new Season seeing Sookie discover herself and hopefully more confident in who she is.
Another death which fans of the book series weren't surprised about was Debbie Pelt. The way she was going it was obvious she was going to find some way to blame Sookie on the demise of her relationship of Alcide especially with V in her system lately. The shocking part was the shot to Tara Thornton that left us hanging. Even though it was a massive shot gun bullet that hit her in the head, I still have a feeling she won't meet her demise in the premiere next year. We've seen Sookie attacked and shot how many times? and still she kept kicking with the help of vampire blood. Which would write a good storyline of Tara havng feelings for which ever vampire does the 'donating' against her feelings of hatred for them up to this point. Or they might want to shock us and actually take away one of our leading characters, you just never know with the writers and Alan Ball. Which I would find disappointing because I would really like to see angsty, angry Tara go away and see her life improve and a small across her face. Besides despite the annoying way Tara went this Season, we'd prefer to see Rutina Wesley to continue on the show. Either way we have months and months to wait to see what they come out with next...
