Ausiello: Unfortunately, Alan Ball says he couldn’t figure out a way to introduce Bubba “without it being cheesy,” adding, “I don’t know how to do it without either using an Elvis impersonator, which is cheesy, or having somebody and never seeing their face, just hearing their voice — and to me that sounds equally cheesy. So that’s just one of the casualties of the transfer from book to screen.”
Charlaine Harris spoke with the BBC for a lengthy interview on the world she's created in her Sookie Stackhouse novels and that have be translated to TV by Alan Ball.

Actor Stephen Moyer spoke to the press association on the intensity of some fans and how he's not allowed to be an orange vamp.
Stephen Moyer has revealed how he's banned from tanning himself - so he can stay pale for True Blood.
The Essex-born actor, who plays vampire Bill Compton in the series, was delighted to move to Los Angeles for the part, only to be told by TV bosses that he can't make the most of the hot weather.
"I couldn't wait to live by the beach and enjoy the weather, then they dye my hair and make me stay out of the sun - I was banned from sunbathing!" he told The Sun.
Stephen - who's engaged to True Blood co-star Anna Paquin - admitted fans often beg him to bite them.
"I don't think my fans are more aggressive than Robert Pattinson's. You don't get much more aggressive than a virginal 14-year-old," he went on.
"But they grab you and think it's OK to touch you - girls, ladies and men. They want to be bitter and want you to break their skin."
What's on Tv UK did a really nice interview with Alexander Skarsgard on his viking vampire charcter, Eric Northman and the attention he's been getting.
What’s the best thing about playing Eric, the 1000-year-old Viking vampire in True Blood?
"As an actor, the last thing I want to play is a typical handsome leading man. It’s always great when you play a complicated character like Eric."
So there’s more to him than just biting necks?
"In the first series, people thought he was just a bad guy, but there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye. We’re now seeing his loyal, caring and sensitive side. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still the same old Eric – there’s just more to him than being an evil vampire."
Why do you think True Blood is so successful?
"It’s over-the-top, wild, sexy and funny. Viewers can also look at the vampires and draw parallels with our society in terms of alienation and prejudice."
Do you have a problem with the show’s sex and violence?
"It’s pretty full-on and very graphic and gory, but sex and violence are always something that attracts an audience. I don’t have any problems with getting naked."
Your father Stellan is one of Sweden’s most famous actors. Did he encourage you to take up acting?
"My parents never dragged me to auditions, things just happened. I had lots of TV roles when I was a kid, but the fame was scary and I hated people staring at me on the street. When I was 13 I decided I didn’t want to do it anymore."
What made you take it up again?
"When I was 20, I moved to Leeds for six months. I was watching football, hanging out, getting drunk and into trouble. I was wondering what I should do with my life and decided to give acting one last go."
Are you more at ease with fame these days?
"Actually, I am flattered by the attention. People come up and want autographs and take pictures, but I have no crazy stalkers after me."
What was it like being in Lady Gaga’s video for Paparazzi?
"I didn’t know Lady Gaga at all before. She was really cool and interesting. She’s very driven and we had a blast."
Are you a music fan?
"I’d much rather be a rock star than an actor. My favourites are Van Morrison and The Clash. Because I’m Swedish, people think I must like ABBA, but they were always much bigger in the rest of the world than they ever were in Sweden."
Actor Sam Trammell talks to the Press Association about if he believes in ghosts etc
"True Blood star Sam Trammell has confessed he doesn't believe in the supernatural.
But the 38-year-old actor, who plays bar owner Sam Merlotte in the hit vampire drama, admits it's fun to be a part of the spooky show.
Sam said: "Well, I'm not really one who believes in ghosts, I mean, I don't have a whole lot of supernatural bent in me, no, but it's fun to be part of it."
He went on: "I love the fantasy and the imagination and the world of it, I mean I love it. It's so much more fun than just doing a by-the-book series and playing a lawyer or doctor or fireman."
Sam may have a supernatural element to his character - who sporadically turns into a dog - but the actor prefers to focus on the other sides to him.
He said: "I really like that he is damaged person, I came from a very normal American family which is great, I don't want to put it down, but Sam's parents abandoned him when he was 14 because he turned into a dog and that is a real scar on him.
"It's interesting to play someone like that, who has had to fend for themselves on streets and who didn't have parents and who knows how he found the money to buy the bar? That to me is the most interesting thing about Sam. More than the fact that he's a shapeshifter, just the fact that he had a difficult childhood."
